Ilse Van Roy (*1978) Tielt-Winge, Belgien
STUDIO TIME @ Strandhotel Margaretha 16.4. — 21.4. / 14:00 — 16:00
Ilse van Roy weaves stories into her textiles, breathes life into her glass sculptures, and expresses her extremely vibrant and multi-layered personality through deep and luminous colors. Using her favorite materials and various techniques, she explores the space between matter and form, performativity and object-based practices, art and craft. Intuitive and playful, her works involve thorough research and in-depth preparation. "A Silent Dance (2022)" is a sculptural pair, glass-blown in Bohemia, a region in the Czech Republic famous for its craftsmen. Ambiguous in its form, it evokes mystical and otherworldly interpretations. Just like the black holes, space, energy and light move in around them. What enters the darkness of their void becomes part of their matter, their silent dance. It is fragile and enchanting at the same time.
