What is the relationship and connection between food, life and the inevitable death? This question plays a central role in the work of Slovenian artist Barbara Kastelec. From the perspective of nourishment as well as creative destruction. She makes use of various yeasts, types of mould, bacteria and slime moulds. In addition to the biological structure, she is particularly interested in the integration of these microorganisms into the life of larger organisms. On closer inspection, the apparent independence of macrocosms becomes a mosaic of microcosms consisting of countless living organisms. This applies not only to plants, but also to animals and humans.
