Nina Gospodin – Germany
STUDIO @ Hotel Cortisen
Nina Gospodin (1984, Hamburg) is a Vienna-based artist whose work explores alternative processes and modes of thinking that set functionalist structures in motion. Starting from a self-developed formal DNA—a modular stencil system—she investigates how formal, material, and conceptual processes can be reorganized to renegotiate the relationship between freedom and function. Her works emerge from an experimental practice that oscillates between painting, object, and spatial installation. Gospodin understands art as a field for vision: a space in which counter-models to mechanistic and economic systems can take material form. Her background in process engineering provides a methodological counterpoint that anchors her practice in real processes and material transformations. She combines analytical precision with poetic openness, developing structures in which roles and functions remain fluid, responsive to their environment, and open to new forms of perception and experience. Gospodin’s work has been exhibited internationally in museums, universities, and galleries across four continents.
