Mike Feijen received his MFA with honors from PXL-MAD in 2018. While completing his education at PXL-MAD, Mike and two others founded the artist collective ScHmIeGd, which ran an art space in downtown Hasselt for a year. Here they organized shows, events, performances, music, film and community projects. After graduating with a degree in Fine Arts, Mike moved on to study collaborative lithography at the Tamarind Institute for Lithography in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. After a year of study, he was offered the apprenticeship and spent another year as a professional printer with and for artists in the Tamarind workshop.
For the past three years, Mike has focused on three things: opening his own collaborative lithography studio, PaperPlainsEditions. He is working on his own artistic practice and teaching and directing PXL-MAD's printmaking studio. At the moment, he and some like-minded people have established new studios in Hasselt and opened a brand new Artspace in Hasselt. Under the name KALF, they organize space for studios and exhibition programs.
