Pepijn van den Nieuwendijk is a multidisciplinary artist known for his vibrant and detailed work in illustration, painting and ceramics. Pepijn's creations combine diverse cultural influences and feature colourful and elaborate paintings, drawings and ceramic sculptures depicting clothed mice, owls, Chinese dragons and fantastical creatures. His world is one in which monsters are manufactured in huge monster factories and mammoths go on parade, in which dodos are time travellers, owls are night bombers and in which humans play only a marginal role. It is an imaginative personal realm reminiscent of fairy tales and comic strips. Although often humorous, they carry a deeper, more meaningful significance rooted in historical tales and stories.
